There's a new Resident Evil movie on the way and the filmmakers are keeping their focus on the first two Capcom survival horror games. According to Vital Thrills, writer-director Johnannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) is looking to recapture the scares of playing Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 back in the 90s. The new movie is even set in 1998.
“With this film, I really wanted to go back to the original, first two games and the associated terrifying experience that I had when I first played them.”
The new cast includes Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and The Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Victorious) as Leon Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin.
Resident Evil is set to hit theaters sometime next year.
