Poughkeepsie, New York, has been recognized as one of the most Hallmark-like cities in the United States, ranking third in the country and first in New York state. According to The Action Network, Poughkeepsie earned this distinction due to its historic depth, vibrant local economy, and picturesque December snowfall, which create an ideal setting for a holiday movie.

The Hallmark Likelihood Index, used to determine the rankings, evaluated over 3,000 towns based on factors like small business density, historic sites, and average December snowfall. Poughkeepsie's high number of historic places and more than 9,000 businesses contribute to its charming, cinematic atmosphere. The city's scenic Hudson River views and festive downtown add to its appeal as a holiday movie backdrop.

Puyallup, Washington, and Farmington, Michigan, took the top two spots on the list. Puyallup boasts over 13,600 businesses and significant snowfall, while Farmington combines historic charm with a close-knit community feel. Littleton, Colorado, and York, Pennsylvania, also made the top 10, known for their lively downtowns and holiday spirit.

The recognition highlights Poughkeepsie's potential as a real-life setting for a Hallmark-style story, where visitors can enjoy train station reunions, lit-up river views, and holiday festivities.
