Residents of the Hudson Valley region are experiencing a bitter cold snap, with temperatures dropping to single digits overnight. The chill is intensified by strong wind gusts, making it feel even colder. The high for today is expected to remain just below freezing, although no precipitation is forecasted.
The cold front responsible for these conditions is part of a larger system affecting much of the Midwest and Northeast, bringing record low temperatures and wind chills to many areas. According to Spectrum News, wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph, contributing to subzero wind chills in some locations.
Residents are advised to bundle up in layers, remain dry, and wear appropriate footwear such as boots if spending time outdoors. The cold weather is expected to persist, with temperatures gradually rebounding over the weekend. NEWS10 ABC reports that temperatures will rise above 30 degrees during the weekend, providing some relief from the frigid conditions.
