Heavy rain and strong winds are set to sweep through the Hudson Valley today, causing potential disruptions on the roads. After a morning of periodic downpours, the worst weather is expected this afternoon. Forecasters are urging residents to prepare for heavy rain and possible thunderstorms. According to Hudson Valley Weather, the region will experience moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph in some areas. The rain is expected to taper off by evening, but intermittent showers may continue.

The National Weather Service has indicated that the rain could total between 1.5 to 2.5 inches by the end of the day. The strongest wind gusts are likely to occur in the afternoon, potentially causing hazardous travel conditions. Hudson Valley Weather advises travelers to allow extra time for their commutes and to be cautious of storm drains that may be blocked.

As the storm moves through, temperatures are expected to remain mild, with highs in the mid-50s. However, the combination of rain and wind will make it feel cooler. By Thursday morning, temperatures are predicted to drop, potentially leading to icy conditions in some areas. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions and plan accordingly.
