My Movie Weekend

Been awhile since I went to the movie theater or saw a film on a streaming service, so this past weekend I dived in and caught four films. Here they are, in the order I enjoyed them: (I still have to see '1917.')

I went into this one not knowing what to expect. I'm glad I did. I enjoyed it so much. The film is about two South Korean families, one poor, one rich, and that's really all I want to say. The film has subtitles, and it is totally original and unpredictable. It was also nominated for Best Picture in the Academy Awards

This is no ordinary superhero film. Joaquin Phoenix is amazing as Arthur Fleck, who becomes the Joker, the terror of Garden City.

I loved Awkwafina in "Crazy Rich Asians," and she's terrific here in this story about a family who reunites in China to see their grandmother, whom they believe is terminally ill.

This is a whodunit set in New England. A mystery writer is murdered. Daniel Craig plays the detective determined to find out who did it. Didn't care for this one too much.
