Monday, September 30: Tig's Rock Birthdays

Happy Birthday today (Sept. 30) to guitarist Brian Forsythe. The guitarist for 80's hard rock band Kix is 62. Kix was formed by Forsythe, along with Ronnie Younkins and Donnie Purnell in 1977 in Hagerstown, Maryland. The band added vocalist Steve Whitman and released their debut album in 1981.

Commercial success for the band didn't come until 1988 with the release of the Atlantic Records platinum selling album 'Blow My Fuse'. The power ballad 'Don't Close Your Eyes' was a big hit, and other singles included the title track 'Blow My Fuse' and 'Cold Blood'. Kix went from playing clubs, to playing arenas opening for Ratt. Kix would eventually break up and reunite in 2003. The band continues to tour and their most recent label Loud & Proud Records released the Kix album Rock Your Face Off in August of 2014. It would be the band's seventh studio album and first new material in nearly 20 years. For more on Kix, check out the official website here.
