We lost Metallica bassist Cliff Burton on Sept. 27, 1986 at the age of 24.
Metallica was on tour supporting their album Master of Puppets when the band's tour bus flipped over on a snowy road in Sweden, taking the life of Cliff Burton. Burton joined Metallica in 1982 and played on the band's first three studio albums: Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets. Cliff goes down in rock history as one of the greatest bass players of all time.
