Today (Aug. 29) is National Chop Suey Day.
National Chop Suey Day recognizes this American Chinese culinary cuisine each year on August 29. Chop suey, which means assorted pieces, is a dish in American Chinese cuisine. The main ingredients include meat (chicken, fish, beef, or pork) and eggs. As the meat cooks over high heat, add vegetables (usually bean sprouts, cabbage, and celery). The dish is bound in a starch-thickened sauce. Typically, rice accompanies the flavorful dish. The day should be observed by enjoying some chop suey and using #NationalChopSueyDay to post on social media. We'll be celebrating here today by cranking up some System Of A Down "Chop Suey!" You can listen to the popular song from the Armenian-American heavy metal band below. Or if you'd like to learn how to make the best chicken chop suey, you can watch the other video posted below.
