Happy Birthday today (Aug. 2) to Joe Lynn Turner. The former Rainbow lead singer is 68. Also celebrating is ex Buckcherry drummer Devon Glenn (39).
Joe Lynn Turner is best known for his work with the rock band Rainbow which he fronted from 1980-1984. After receiving phone call from guitarist Richie Blackmore, Turner was immediately enlisted as the frontman for Rainbow and had some success in America during the early til mid 80’s. “Stone Cold” would become the band’s first top 40 hit thanks to rock radio airplay and heavy rotation on MTV. He would record three studio albums with Rainbow: Difficult to Cure, Straight Between the Eyes, and Bent Out of Shape, which featured the single “Street of Dreams”. Rainbow split up in 1984 and Joe Lynn Turner went on to short stints with guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and Deep Purple. He also pursued a solo career and has played in a variety of other projects. I've always been a big fan of Turner's work and have seen him live on numerous occasions of the years. The dude rocks. Cheers to Joe Lynn turner on his birthday today!
