Today (July 9) we remember AC/DC singer Bon Scott who would have been 73. Also remembering drummer Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience who would have been 73. Happy Birthday wishes to bassist Frank Bello of Anthrax (54).
AC/DC was formed out of Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. The band’s classic album Highway to Hell was released in July of 1979 on Atlantic Records. It was the last album to feature singer Bon Scott who died the following year on Feb. 19 1980 after choking on his own vomit. He was 33. The album became the first AC/DC album to break the U.S. Top 100, eventually reaching No. 17 on the charts, and propelling the band into super stardom. AC/DC have sold over 200 million albums worldwide in their 40 plus year career and are one of the best-selling bands in the of all time. Crank some old school AC/DC today in Bon Scott's honor!
