Tuesday, June 25: Tig's Rock Birthdays

Happy Birthday today (June 25) to original Foreigner guitarist Ian McDonald. He's 73. Also celebrating is bassist Mike Kroeger of Nickelback (47). I n remembrance, keyboardist/guitarist Allen Lanier of Blue Oyster Cult would have been 73.

Ian McDonald is best known for his work as a founding member of rock bands King Crimson and Foreigner. Foreigner are among the world’s best selling rock band’s with sales of over 80 million worldwide. Their career started with the successful self-titled debut album released in 1977 with hits like “Feels Like the First Time”, Cold as Ice”, and “Long, Long Way from Home”. The album Double Vision followed in 1978 and Head Games in 1979. Ian McDonald played on the first three albums and eventually left the band in 1980.

The original Foreigner lineup of Mick Jones, Lou Gramm, along with Ian McDoanld and Al Greenwood reunited for some 40th anniversary shows in 2017. see video below. Cheers to Ian McDonald on his birthday today!
