Happy Birthday today (June 3) to Kerry King of Slayer. The guitarist is 55. Other rockers celebrating include singer Doro Pesch (55) and Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople) who turns 80.
Kerry King co-founded Slayer with Jeff Hanneman in 1981 and became the main songwriter for the band after Hanneman's death. Known as one of the "big 4" in thrash metal along with Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax, Slayer first rose to fame with the release of the 1986 album Reign in Blood. The band has released twelve studio albums, two live albums, and a box set over the course of their career. The band's last album Repentless was released in 2015 and it was their highest charting album debuting at number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart. Slayer are currently on their farewell tour which wich I saw play Times Union Center in Albany last summer with Lamb of God, Anthrax and Testament also on the bill. Sick show!. Cheers to Kerry King on his birthday today!
