Happy Birthday today (March 12) to bassist Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. He’s 63. Also celebrating is singer Minoru Niihara of Japanese metal band Loudness (59).
Steve Harris is the primary songwriter and founding member of Iron Maiden. He’s the only member of Iron Maiden to have remained with the band since the beginning, and has appeared on every album along with guitarist Dave Murray. Iron Maiden was formed 1975 out of east London by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. The band were pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and achieved initial success in the early 80’s, and have had several platinum and gold albums in the UK and U.S including 1982’s Number of the Beast.
Iron Maiden released their latest album The Book of Souls in 2015 and received great reviews. It was the band’s first double studio album and it was produced by longtime Iron Maiden collaborator Kevin Shirley. The Book of Souls Tour kicked off in Feb. 2016 and lasted a couple of years. Iron Maiden play Barclays Center in Brooklyn on July 26 and 27 on their Legacy of the Beast Tour. Check out the band's website for all the tour dates here. Up the Irons! I plan on being at one of their shows.
