Monday, February 4: Tig's Rock Birthdays

Happy Birthday today (Feb. 4) to Alice Cooper. He’s 71. Other rockers celebrating include drummer Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie, Fastway) who turns 67 and drummer Phil Ehart of Kansas is 68.

Alice Cooper is considered by many to be “The Godfather of Shock Rock”. The original Alice Cooper Group broke onto the scene in 1971 with the hit “I’m Eighteen” from the album  Love It to Death , followed by the single “School’s Out”. The band reached their commercial peak with the album  Billion Dollar Babies  in 1973. A successful solo career would begin with the release of the 1975 concept album  Welcome to My Nightmare. The original Alice Cooper Group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. One of my favorite shows was the  Spend The Night with Alice Cooper Tour  in 2016when it played The Palace in Albany. It was one of the best times I've seen Alice, especially cause I was sitting front row! Amazing show. I’ve had the chance to meet Alice before and he’s one of the nicest and most genuine guys in the business. Cheers to Alice on his 70th today!
