Happy Birthday today (Nov. 19) to former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum. He’s 58. Also celebrating is Tool bassist Justin Chancellor (47).
Matt Sorum is best known as a former drummer for Guns N’ Roses, with whom he recorded three studio albums with, and as a member of supergroup Velvet Revolver. He also is a former member of The Cult. His latest project is the touring band Kings of Chaos. Sorum joined The Cult in 1989 to tour in support of the band's fourth album, Sonic Temple when he was spotted by Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash during the tour. He was eventually hired as a replacement for drummer Steven Adler in 1990. He spent 7 years in Guns N' Roses and recorded the albums Use Your Illusion 1, Use Your Illusion 2, and The Spaghetti Incident? before leaving the band following an argument with Axl Rose in 1997. With sales of over 100 million records worldwide, Guns N' Roses are one of the best-selling bands of all time. Cheers to Matt Sorum on his birthday today!
