Happy Birthday today (Oct. 31) to U2 drummer Larry Mullen (56) and current Scorpions drummer (ex Motorhead) Mikkey Dee is 55.
Larry Mullen has been with U2 since the band's inception and he has recorded thirteen albums with the band. He was born and raised in Dublin, and co-founded U2 in 1976. His drumming style was developed while playing martial beats in a childhood marching band, Some of Mullen’s most famous contributions to the U2 catalogue include “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, Pride (In the Name of Love)”, “Where the Streets Have No Name”, “Mysterious Ways”, and “City of Blinding Lights”. Through his work with U2, Mullen has received 22 Grammy Awards. U2 have sold more than 170 million records worldwide making them one of the world’s best-selling music artists of all time. Rolling Stone magazine ranked U2 number 22 on it’s list of “100 Greatest Artists of All Time” and labelled them “Biggest Band in the World”. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility in 2005. U2 will released their latest album called Songs of Experience last year.
