New rule: NFL will fine teams if players kneel during anthem

NFL owners ruled today that they will fine teams if players on the field do not kneel during the National Anthem.

Players will now have the option to remain in their clubhouse if they wish during the anthem.  But if they're on the field, they must kneel.

According to the New York Times, Jed York, who owns the Jets, abstained from the vote.

Christopher Johnson, CEO of the Jets, backs his players right to protest and told Newsday that his team would not fine players who choose to kneel.  "If the team gets fined, "Johnson said, "that's something that I will just have to bear."

Here's the story from the New York Times.
