Happy Birthday today (Oct. 1) to April Wine guitarist Brian Greenway. He's 68.
Brian Greenway has been playing with Canadian rock band April Wine from 1977 to 1986 when the band split, and again from 1992 to the present day. April Wine formed out of Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1969. The band enjoyed international success in the 1970's and 1980's, releasing over 20 albums. Brian Greenway is often credited for giving April Wine a "harder edged" sound. Upon April Wine's initial breakup in 1986, Greenway embarked on a solo career and released the album Serious Business which continued the traditional April Wine mix of heavy rockers and ballads. April Wine would reach their commercial peak in the U.S. with 1981's Nature of the Beast album featuring the singles "Just Between You and Me" and "Sign of the Gypsy Queen". Cheers to Brian Greenway on his birthday today!
