Happy Birthday today (July 25) to guitarist Manny Charlton of Nazareth. He's 78. Also celebrating is bassist Mark Clarke (Uriah Heep) who's 69.
Manny Charlton is a founding member of Scottish hard rock band Nazareth. He was the band's lead guitarist from 1968-1990. He pursued a solo career after leaving Nazareth. Charlton also worked with Guns N' Roses in pre-production for the band's debut album Appetite for Destruction. Nazareth had several hits in the U.K. as well as several other West European countries in the early 1970's. They achieved international success with their 1975 album Hair of the Dog, which features the hits "Hair of the Dog" and the ballad "Love Hurts. The band continues to record and tour today.
